I, Umamah, Granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad
Seven months after the death of the Prophet Muhammad, in the year 11 of the Hijrah (633 AD), young Umamah - granddaughter of the Prophet - returns to Medina, from which she has been away for years. She finds her aunt Fatima, fifth daughter of Muhammad, who is one of the earliest Muslims.
While Fatima's name is well-known, her niece Umamah's is almost forgotten. However, the Prophet Muhammad once said that she was the person he loved most in the world.
Through female perspectives and relying on ancient traditions and stories, this book presents in a novelistic form the emergence of Islam and women's often-unsuspected role during this time.
